Business Advantage Consulting managed a large, complex, legislatively-mandated IT project within the standards of the Business-Advantage designed PMO (Project Management Office) and within the professional standards of the Project Management Institute®. The project was completed on time to a state-mandated (AB6) deadline, under budget, and deployed in all 18 CalWIN counties by an 88-person project team stretching from India to China to Folsom, California to the eastern United States.  It may sound like a reporting project, but in reality the team extensively modified the eligibility logic at the heart of the automated social services system and implemented the revised functionality with outstanding quality.

Hewlett Packard - CalWIN PMO

CA Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) - eUHR Project

CA Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) - CAPMAN Maintenance and Operations

Placer County, El Dorado County

Business Advantage Consulting provided project management services to assist State staff in the vendor management of the CAPMAN Maintenance and Operation project. We managed a team of business analysts/testers and developers, while providing project management, functional and technical support by working with State staff to perform system maintenance and enhancement implementation, and operational services. We also collaborated with the State project management and technical staff to move from a waterfall/SDLC methodology to a hybrid Agile/SCRUM methodology that optimized performance of system maintenance and operations services in support of the CAPMAN 820/834 system.

Our team connected with the program leadership team to ensure close collaboration between project teams and to capture project risks and issues. We designed and developed executive program reports and dashboard to track the MS Project schedule, 220 deliverables, SDLC, schedule trend analysis and forecasting, and risks and issues. We also facilitated leadership team meetings and developed and performed weekly presentations.

CA Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) - Home Ownership

We provided project management and oversight for the technology vendor to ensure the system was successfully designed, developed, tested, and implemented. The project also included converting and validating well over 40,000,000 data records, utilizing comprehensive data conversion and sample plans. Our team interfaced regularly with Executive and Senior level staff to provide status reports and report on issues, risks and budget. We also developed and managed project schedule which included developing a reporting system to effectively and dynamically track project progress.

CA State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) - Reduce Files at Move

We were responsible for gathering requirements and development of a non-member record ECMS solution. Our services included process modifications, system modification, testing, training support, implementation and post-implementation support. In addition, we planned, managed, conducted quality assurance and conversion vendor oversight services to convert more than 10,000,000 paper, film and fiche records to digital content.

CA Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) - Historical Member Document Imaging

Services included process design, system requirements definition, importing system development, and developing business procedures and training materials. Business Advantage developed the business case and overall implementation strategy for the document conversion; analyzed the existing content management system, developed business requirements and helped in high-level design sessions; assessed the existing document repositories and developed conversion recommendations for a new document management system.
